Mahé East (Airport)Being close to the Airport, this area saw the first tourist boom with a good number of properties in differing categories dotted along Mahe's East Coast. There is a nine-hole golf course here, the only one on the island. Anse Royale is the most famous beach in this area and probably the second most popular after Beau Vallon. The small Ile Souris (Mouse Island) on the north side is within swimming distance and offers good snorkelling. On week-ends Anse Royale is a very lively beach where many locals meet up for picnics and beach sports. Mahe's East also houses the Craft Village which consists 12 craft shops grouped around an old plantation house. Don't miss : Jardin du Roi spice nursery, the newly opened tropical gardens Kot Man Ya at Les Cannelles, the Craft Village and Vye Marmit restaurant, the coconut plantations and reef exploring. |
